Our favourite gifts for kids.
I haven’t included the obvious biggies: the Barbies, the Wicked toys, the Nintendo Switches, or the computer games. I figure if your child wants those, they’ll let you know. This list is more about the other ideas: the things you’d love them to have, gifts they’ll enjoy but not necessarily have spotted in the toy shop or the Smyths catalogue (on which my own children have circled something on every single page). These are the ideas you subtly suggest to family, rather than the main event. The ‘others’ if you like.
And there are some lovely ones: A rattan basketball net might be the chicest pieces of sports equipment I’ve ever seen. Fun new games – Uno Spin anyone? I’ve played it. It’s excellent. And the wooden gumball machine! Some of the most coveted classics make an appearance: the Maileg princess & the pea set, the Stapelstein stepping stones I’m obsessed with. And some lovely creative gifts: the LOLA art sets and Djeco steps are favourites.
I’ve included just a handful of clothing picks. Mostly pieces I’d put in a Friday Finds if they weren’t all currently festive, or festive pieces that landed just after my Christmas edit.
