Stylish and practical back to school kids’ essentials for every age…

Bags launch at 6pm Friday 15th August.
Ready for the new school year? We’ve got you covered.
The back to school rush doesn’t have to be overwhelming — especially when you’ve got a curated list of tried-and-tested, stylish, durable and practical buys at your fingertips. From long-lasting lunch boxes and leak-proof water bottles, easy to care for uniforms to school shoes and the most coveted school bags – here’s our ultimate edit to help you start the term in style.
Uniform that stays fresh
Every piece of uniform on this list has been worn, washed, and survived by my own children. The pieces I buy on repeat yearly. They’re also affordable.
One little insider tip, I saw this somewhere online and cannot remember where but now I swear by it – to keep white polos and shirts truly white without harsh chemicals, use Norfolk Natural Living Alternative Bleach every few washes… it works. And looks pretty on a shelf.
Stylish lunch bags that last
We’ve put lunch bags through their paces over the years, and one brand has never let us down: Tiba & Marl. My eldest daughter’s lunch bag lasted from Reception to Year 6. My son’s is still going strong in juniors. And for my youngest, starting this September, I already have the leopard print ready to go. Here, I’ve featured the silver version – my personal favourite – and the one I’m always asked where it’s from…
Back to school shoes
There’s nothing quite like getting your child’s shoes fitted in-store, but with busy schedules (and three kids), it’s not always realistic. I always recommend supporting independent shoe shops first – many stock school shoe brands that are far superior to most high street options. This year, mine are all from Other Kids. Their selection is fantastic, and it’s incredibly easy to measure your child’s feet at home using their online guide HERE. They’re also brilliantly helpful over the phone, by email, or even DM. If you’re local to Leigh-on-Sea, you can visit in person – but honestly, doing it from home is a huge time-saver.
The water bottle that won’t leak
After years of putting up with leaky Air Ups I’ve been introduced to b.box. I was sent one as a gift and immediately purchased another. They’re properly insulated, stainless steel, easy to clean, haven’t leaked yet and come in different sizes and colours. Apparently, they’re huge in Australia and just landing here now. But I rate them.
