Can I even call this week’s edit FRIDAY FINDS when I’m two days late?
I totally missed my own deadline – Friday. My youngest had an awful chest infection so was permanently attached to me day & night which meant I was unable to do anything. So, here’s this week’s FRIDAY FINDS – an edit of the best new stylish baby & kidswear – on SUNDAY and as promised it’s a kids party dressing special.
We’re talking sparkle, ruffles, shine, sequins, velvet, tulle… and not just for girls!
I remember showing both my older children – my now 9-year-old daughter and 7-year-old son a high street retailers website last year, they wanted to look at ‘party clothes’ for a school Christmas disco. My daughter clicked on the girl tab and it was full on glam, party, fun. Then my son clicked on the boy tab and asked if he’d clicked the wrong thing because it was all boring work clothes like Daddy’s suits! Not so fun.
Though admittedly it is WAY harder to find cool, fun stuff for boys. As I also don’t like characters on clothes. Or most sportswear worn not for sport. So limited options… Don’t get me wrong a suit or shirt look can be super cute (on girls too) I just don’t think it should be the only option in the BOY section. I mean, I sometimes feel a bit stiff wearing a shirt and blazer, so I like a more relaxed look. In the same way I don’t think a dress should be the only option for girls… am I making sense? And yes of course boys can wear anything below, but my son doesn’t actually want to dress like a girl (his words). In dresses and skirts. But he’s well up for some shiny leggings with a jumper or a cool tee tucked into fun trousers. What I’m trying to say I’ve found more options than just suits!
But back to dresses. I do love a dress. There are some AMAZING ones. I’m in love with the ruffles above from Florence & Bunny. And the images. So beautiful. Also loving a cape to update anything else in a child’s wardrobe. And a bow hairband for the same reason.
I hope this give you some fun ideas for the Christmas party season… I intend on just showing my own children this edit and letting them select from it rather than giving them free reign on any other one retailer’s website again. Then the crop tops are well avoided too!
You’ll find a good range of prices, from supermarket to, well, a little more! But hopefully there’s something that’ll work for whatever you want to spend… also highly recommend shopping preloved for party wear. It’s usually in great condition as we tend to keep party pieces for ‘occasions’ and then its outgrown before you know it. I usually type in specific key words like ‘tulle’ for good search results…
